Quilters Busy as Bees at the Stoughton Public Library
Photos from a recent 6-week quilting program held at the Stoughton Public Library.
In their final class of a six-week session held earlier this month, quilters at the continued forming their pattern, “a grandmother’s flower garden.”
Led by Laura Rosenspan of the Fuller Art Museum, the class has learned many key techniques to the art of quilting, such as running stitches and appliqué stitches.
Rosenspan explains that because “they [the class] do really well with their homework, so I can focus on their individual stitching”.

Participants included, Laura Jeffers, Regina Fennessey, Nicole Jean and 5th grader, Gianna Barbosa. When asked why quilting appealed to Barbosa at such a young age, she replied, “I saw the flyer on the bulletin board and thought it sounded cool!”
The other participants agreed. Fennessey added, “she [Rosenspan] is a great teacher; she really gives individual attention”.

In this all “hand-sewn, no machine” class, that’s important another participant said.
Library Director, Pat Basler and Rosenspan share an interest for hosting a similar, multi-generational, course again in the future.
