A police investigation determined that a teen forced his way into the home by cutting a sliding screen door with a knife. Once inside, the suspect encountered the 75-year-old resident, who was home alone, and demanded money from her. The suspect then pushed the elderly victim to the ground, causing her to scream before he fled.

Randolph Officer Vardy Duperval, who was working a detail, encountered an individual matching the suspect’s description about a mile from the scene. The suspect was positively identified soon afterward and taken into custody.
