School Committee Member Suddenly Resigns
Dr. Carol Brown announced her decision Tuesday evening at the start of the committee's meeting.

A member of the Stoughton School committee has suddenly resigned without giving a reason.
Dr. Carol Brown announced her decision Tuesday evening at the start of the committee’s meeting.
“I regret to inform you that I am resigning my position of School Committee as of July 28. This is not an easy decision for me, but it is something that I must do. It was an honor to work with my constituents and the children of Stoughton. Thank you,” Brown said.

After the announcement, committee members thanked Brown for her service.
“I know that being in public office is difficult and you took on the challenge of being on the building committee and I appreciate that. That was extra time, extra effort on your part and I do thank you for your service,” Chairwoman Katie Pina-Enokian said.

A replacement will be appointed by the selectmen and school committee to serve out the remainder of the term. Town Manager Michael Hartman will appoint a new member to the building committee.
The seat held by Brown will be up for election in April 2016.
