Second Annual Movie for Marissa Scheduled for June 26

The event benefits the Marissa Paige Ramos Memorial Foundation.

From the Marissa Paige Ramos Memorial Foundation:

The second annual ‘A Movie for Marissa’ will be held on June 26th at the Stoughton Youth Soccer Fields. Activities will begin at 6:00pm, with the Disney film, Frozen, being shown at 8:30 pm. The event benefits the Marissa Paige Ramos Memorial Foundation, a 501 (c)3 non-profit corporation. A suggested donation of $5 a person, $15 per family will be collected at the door, and the event will feature a silent auction, raffle prizes, a concession stand, games, and a merchandise table. The foundation is looking for both volunteers to help out on the evening of the event for various tasks including running games, working in the concession stand, and selling raffle tickets. The foundation is also looking for donations of raffle prizes and silent auction items from both individuals and companies for the event.

The Ramos family of Stoughton, MA created the foundation after 17-year-old Marissa Ramos, a junior at Stoughton High School, passed away in her sleep on May 27, 2014, of cardiac arrest. Marissa loved life. Marissa faced many challenges in her life, however they never stopped her for a second. Positivity poured out of her, and she had the ability to make anyone’s day with her smile. She loved giving back to the community, and was an active volunteer throughout Stoughton All proceeds from ‘A Movie for Marissa’ will benefit the Marissa Paige Ramos Memorial Foundation, which is used to create scholarships for Stoughton High School seniors, sponsoring local youth sports leagues, and various charitable donations in Marissa’s name.

The first ‘A Movie for Marissa’ was held on July 2015, 2014 at the Stoughton Youth Soccer Fields, with The Little Mermaid being played for those in attendance. New England Revolution defender Andrew Farrell, and goalkeeper Larry Jackson also stopped by and signed autographs and took pictures with the attendees. There was also many silent auction and raffle items that were kindly donated by many individuals, families, and businesses in the community. It was a night to remember for all who came
