Some Stoughton HS Students Expected To Take Part In Walkout

Stoughton HS students plan to walk out stand with the students of Parkland on the one month anniversary of the Parkland, Florida shooting.

STOUGHTON, MA — Stoughton High School students will be among those participating in a planned walkout in memory of those killed during February's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Principal Juliette Miller wrote in a letter that a some students are expected to take part in a the national walkout on March 14 10 a.m. Students are expected to leave school for 17 minutes to remember the 17 lives lost in the shooting.

No students will be discouraged from participating, nor will any students be forced to leave school.

Once the walkout is over, students will return to class.

The March 14 walkout was proposed by the group Women's March Youth EMPOWER, which is calling on students and teachers to leave school for 17 minutes to remember the victims and send a message to Congress to pass stricter gun laws.
