SSEPAC is Seeking New Members

A letter from Stoughton School Committee member, Dr. Erdem A. Ural. The Stoughton Special Education Parent Advisory Group is looking for new members and will be holding their next meeting March 2 at the O.M.S.

SSEPAC is an acronym for Stoughton Special Education Parent Advisory Committee. Massachusetts Law enables SSEPAC to be an advisory council to the Stoughton School Committee, and gives it a crucial responsibility for the quality of the Special Education services in Stoughton. SSEPAC advises the School Committee on matters pertaining to the education and safety of students with disabilities and meets regularly with school officials to participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of the Stoughton School Committee's special education programs. In return, Stoughton School Committee assists SSEPAC in maintaining its operation and activities without charge.

SSEPAC also organizes monthly seminars or workshops discussing various aspects of special education. The next SSEPAC meeting will start at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the . A presenter from Federation for Children with Special Needs will conduct a workshop entitled "Suspensions and Discipline in Special Education."

SSEPAC membership is open to all parents of children with disabilities and other interested parties. So, please come and participate in the meeting.
