UPDATE: Stoughton Stabbing Victim Dies

No arrests have been made.

STOUGHTON, MA - A stabbing that took place on Canton Street is now a murder, officials said.

The Norfolk County District Attorney's office announced Friday night that the victim has died.

At about 3:42 p.m., the Stoughton Police Department received a report of an altercation outside of 89 Canton St. An adult male was stabbed during the incident and was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center immediately following the incident. He did not survive his injuries.

A person who lives in a nearby apartment told WHDH that the stabbing took place because of a car and said there was a big fight.

Authorities are withholding the victim's name until the notification process for his family has been completed.

The homicide is being very actively investigated by the Stoughton Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Norfolk County District Attorney's office.

As of Friday night, no arrests have been made.
