On the Cumulative Progress and Performance Index (PPI), the Hanson School received a 70 out of 100, South Elementary earned a 77, Gibbons Elementary received an 85 and noticeably a 99 for high-needs students, and the high school scored a 92.
The progress and performance index combines information about narrowing proficiency gaps, growth, and graduation and dropout rates over multiple years into a single number, according to the DESE. All districts, schools, and student subgroups receive an annual PPI based on improvement over a two-year period and a cumulative score based on four years of data. For a group to be considered to be making progress toward narrowing proficiency gaps, its cumulative PPI must be 75 or higher.
