STOUGHTON, MA — A Stoughton horror author received the endorsement of perhaps the biggest name in horror writing. Stephen King, known for classics like "It," "The Shining" and "The Green Mile," praised local author Paul Tremblay's collection of short stories, "Growing Things and Other Stories," as "one of the best collections of the 21st century."

"Can't praise Paul Tremblay's 'Growing Things' highly enough," King tweeted out to his 5.3 million followers Sunday. "19 creepy classics that will turn your favorite easy chair into an uneasy chair."

Tremblay, known for his national best seller, "The Cabin at the End of the World," still lives in Stoughton, near Cobb's Corner, with his wife and children. His new anthology series, including 19 short stories, features a Bram Stoker Award nominee for best short story, "The Teacher." The story is about a student forced to watch a disturbing video that haunts her and the lives of her classmates. But King's comments have pushed the collection further, making a big impact on sales, Tremblay told the Brockton Enterprise. Tremblay also cited King has a huge inspiration.
