Stoughton Barn Fire Under Investigation

STOUGHTON, MA — Firefighters worked to extinguish a two-alarm fire inside a barn on Walnut Avenue Thursday morning. The flames were put out before they spread to a house that was just feet away.

Fire officials from Stoughton, Brockton, Avon and several nearby towns started battling the flames around 1 a.m. Fire officials told the Brockton Enterprise said the fire was heavy on the first ad second floors of the barn and could have easily spread to nearby homes.

The State Fire Marshal's office said it's investigating the cause of the fire and may suspect that its origin was suspicious.
