Stoughton Coronavirus: 2 Police Officers Tests Positive

STOUGHTON, MA — Two Stoughton police officers have tested positive for the new coronavirus, according to town officials.

Neither officer was identified. Town Manager Robin Muksian Grimm said both officers are at home with relatively mild symptoms.

Grimm said Health Director Janiece Bruce is working directly with Police Chief Donna McNamara to follow all protocol regarding other officers and any member of the public who the officers were in contact with.

"While we certainly are concerned, we are not surprised to have some positive tests given the prevalence of this virus in all walks of life," Grimm said in a statement. Additionally, our facilities director is working with the chief on protocols for sanitizing the building. Further, thankfully, the Police Chief had already implemented basic social distancing protocols early on to reduce the number of patrolmen in contact with each other."
