Stoughton Driver Involved in Fatal South Boston Car Accident

State police say a Stoughton man struck and killed a 66-year-old man while driving in Boston Tuesday.

At about 6:16 p.m., the victim was struck while crossing Old Colony Avenue at Gavin Way in South Boston. According to a preliminary investigation, the victim was struck by a 2005 Chevrolet Astro van operated by a 38-year-old Stoughton man. The driver was not injured and remained on scene.

The driver has not been charged. The crash remains under investigation.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.
