Stoughton Historical Society Hosts Patriotic Exhibits for July 4

The Historical Society has a World War I exhibit planned for before and after the Fourth of July Parade.

STOUGHTON, MA — If you're looking for something to do before or after the Stoughton Fourth of July Parade, the Historical Society has a World War I exhibit planned.

In a post on the Stoughton News Facebook page. Stoughton Historical Commission President Dwight MacKerron said, "You can sit on our shaded lawn to watch the parade, before or after coming in and seeing our exhibits on WWI in Stoughton, exactly 100 years ago."

The Stoughton Historical Society will be open on July 4 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Other things to check out include:

  • Historical maps showing Stoughton 100-200 years ago
  • Current maps of the Bird Street Conservation Area and the Glen Echo Pond Trails
  • An exhibit of focus programs that were run by Helen Hanson and her successors at Chemung-Hansen School and the Stoughton Fire Department
  • Children's Toys From Days Past Exhibit

These exhibits will run both before and after the parade. Stoughton's Annual 4th of July Parade begins at the intersection of Park and Prospect streets at 10 a.m. and will march through Stoughton Center, down Washington Street. The parade ends at Phillips Avenue. Mark Snyder from Stoughton News and the Stoughton Journal will once again host the parade.
