Employees at the Stoughton IKEA went on a one-day strike Monday to demand union recognition.
The United Food and Commercial Workers union told the Boston Globe that warehouse employees participated in a strike at 2 a.m Monday, with a supporters’ rally at 9 a.m. The union said that 75 percent of employees who work the early morning warehouse shift had petitioned the company for union recognition but have yet to receive a response.
Previously, the union filed a complaint with IKEA with the National Labor Relations Board earlier this year. The case was settled when the furniture store agreed to post notices in their breakroom and online that their employees have a right to unionize.
