STOUGHTON, MA — The Stoughton Public Library has started a new program for people to take out books safely amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The program allows people to pick up books right from the front porch steps of the library. There are three ways to take advantage of the program:

  1. Place your holds on Stoughton items at www.ocln.org
  2. Send an email request to still@ocln.org
  3. Call the library with a Stoughton item request at 781-344-2711 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. You must have your library card ready.

Delivery of items between libraries has been temporarily suspended, therefore only items owned by the Stoughton Public Library are requestable.

Here's the process for pickup and return after you make your oder:

  • When your items are pulled we will call you to arrange a pickup time.
  • They will then be checked out to you, put in a sealed bag, and placed on the front porch for pickup on the designated day.
  • There will be no same day pickup.
  • Requested items will be held for 3 days.
  • Library items can be returned in either book drop 24 hours a day.

The public will not be allowed inside the library. Massachusetts Resident Tax Booklet and IRS Form 1040 and Instructions will be made available on the front porch cart as well.

Don't forget, the virtual Stoughton Public Library remains open 24 hours a day for patrons during these unusual times.
