Stoughton Man Charged with Assaulting Three Officers, Possessing Suboxone
Brenton Tisdale, 32, was arrested during a traffic stop on Washington Street.

STOUGHTON, MA — It took three officers and a taser to subdue a Stoughton man who became aggressive during a traffic stop, police said.
Brenton Tisdale, 32, was arrested Aug. 3 and charged with malicious destruction of property over $250, resisting arrest, three counts of assault and battery on police, disorderly conduct, three counts of possession of a Class B drug, and failure to wear a seatbelt, according to court records in Stoughton District Court. He was arraigned on Aug. 4.
At 8:30 p.m., officers on patrol on Washington Street learned that the vehicle in front of them had an owner with an expired license. After pulling the vehicle over, they observed a female driver and Tisdale in the passenger seat without his seatbelt, according to a police report.

Police asked Tisdale for his identification. While they were running the information, police wrote that they could hear the two in the car arguing. Tisdale yelled from his car that he wanted to know why they were stopped, with police responding that it had to do with an expired license. Tisdale continued to yell at police, eventually being called over to the cruiser. As he walked over, Tisdale allegedly had his hand in his pocket and refused to move it when asked to do so. Officer Nate Derby attempted to remove the arm, but Tisdale allegedly pulled away.
Police attempted to gain control of Tisdale, with the suspect allegedly knocking over Officer Colby Gallagher. Tisdale eventually hit the ground and held on to a fence pole. Police say that Tisdale ripped the pole out of the ground during the incident.

Police used a taser on Tisdale after he allegedly attempted to get off the ground. The taser was used twice before police were able to handcuff Tisdale and place him in a police cruiser.
During the booking process, packets labeled "Suboxone" in a cigarette pack on Tisdale.
The driver of the car remained in the vehicle and complied with police orders.
With no licensed drivers, the car was tow ed.
Tisdale is expected to return to court on a date to be decided.
