Stoughton Man Charged with OUI, Nearly Hitting Police Cruiser in Brookline

A Stoughton man is facing a drunken driving charge after he almost allegedly hit a police cruiser in Brookline.

Brian McCabe, 30, of Stoughton, was arrested early Sunday morning and will be arraigned on the charge in Brookline District Court according to Brookline police.

At around 1:20 a.m., an officer was near Chestnut Hill Avenue and Boylston Street to assist Boston College police with a traffic stop. While driving on the street, he noticed a vehicle on Boylston Street heading towards his cruiser at a high rate of speed, forcing the cruiser to move and avoid a crash according to an incident report from the Brookline Police Department.

McCabe’s eyes were described as glassy and bloodshot by police, with a noticeable odor of alcohol.

Afer failing a field sobriety test, McCabe was taken into custody.
