Stoughton Man Faces Charges For Alleged Drug Deal Near Middle School
Matthew L. Lis, 26, was arrested early Tuesday morning.

STOUGHTON, MA — A Stoughton man faces multiple charges after allegedly conducting a drug deal near the O'Donnell Middle School, police said.
Matthew L. Lis, 26, was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with three counts of possession of a Class B drug with intent to distribute, possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute, a drug violation near a school, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned later that day in Stoughton District Court and ordered held on $1,000 but due to probation matter in Quincy District Court, he will be held without bail, according to court records.
At about 1:45 a.m., police paroling around the intersection of Simpson and Cushing streets for drug activity observed two people at the intersection, one of them being Lis. Talking to Lis, police say they received inconsistent answers from him and he denied having anything illegal on him, according to a police report. Due to, among other things, his probation status, the discovery of a straw with fentanyl and inconsistent answers, police conducted a search on Lis. When they tried to unzip a pocket on Lis' shorts, Lis allegedly tried to run away, bumping into a police cruiser before getting up and running into the cruiser a second time.

Lis was placed into custody shortly afterward, according to the report. In addition to the straw, officers allegedly found $400 worth of fentanyl, 13 Adderall pills, two suboxone strips, and two bags of heroin worth $75 on Lis.
Due to their proximity to the middle school, Lis faces an additional charge for being near a school zone.
