Stoughton Man Guilty Of Manslaughter In 2016 Fatal Stabbing

STOUGHTON, MA — A Stoughton man has been found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in a fatal stabbing.

Keenan D. Brasfield was convicted of the charge Friday following less than a day of deliberation by a Norfolk Superior Court jury. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 2.

On May 6, 2016, police received a report of a fight on Canton Street. When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim, Erwins Albert, unresponsive and suffering from an apparent chest wound, with blood on his chest and legs.

Albert was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told police that they saw a tow truck with a car attached, followed by two more cars that drove behind the truck. Brasfield allegedly got out of one of the vehicles and Albert got out of another vehicle. The two allegedly had an argument over the content of what was in the trunk of the towed car. Brasfield allegedly said, "You didn't know I got the hock," before stabbing the victim and fleeing the scene on foot.

Witnesses at the scene were able to identify Brasfield as the suspect. He turned himself into police two days later.

"The jury had a lot of testimony to absorb and assimilate. We believed that there was an interpretation of the facts that might have led the jury to find Brasfield’s conduct to constitute murder,” Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said in a release. “We respect the jury’s manslaughter verdict and thank them for their service.”

Brasfield faces up to 20 years in a state prison.
