Marthe M. (Laroche) Wells

Marthe M. (Laroche) Wells, 77, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Blue Hills Alzheimer's Care Center in Stoughton after a period of failing health.

Born in Cape Haitian, Haiti, she was raised and educated in Haiti. Mrs. Wells came to the United States at age 19 and continued her education at Providence-Barrington Bible College in Rhode Island. She was a resident of Stoughton for over 40 years.

She worked as a nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, at the Brockton Visiting Nurse Association and as a private duty nurse for many years, retiring in 1995. She was an active member of the People's Baptist Church in Boston and later at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Brockton for many years.

She is survived by her two sons, John L. Wells, Jr. and his wife Gina of Stoughton and Derique Wells of Weymouth. She was the sister of Marie Laroche of FL, Nicolas Laroche of Milton and Adrien Laroche of FL. Mrs. Wells was predeceased by six brothers and sisters. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Glenn H. Godfrey

Glenn H. Godfrey, 55, died Thursday, May 10, at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence after a period of failing health. He was the devoted life partner of 22 years of Michael Visconti.

Born in Brockton, he was raised and educated Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. He also attended Northeastern University. Mr. Godfrey was a resident of Haverhill for over 22 years. He worked as a Business Analyst for Well Point Insurance in Andover for 17 years.

In addition to his life partner, he is survived by his parents Albert A. Godfrey and Evelyn H. (Morgan) Godfrey of Stoughton and his siblings, Donna L. Griffin and her husband, John of Wrentham, Albert A. Godfrey Jr. and his wife Deborah of North Attleboro and Robin Feltrup and her husband, Mark, of Whitman. He is also survived by several nephews, one niece, two great nephews and one great niece and many friends.

Joel S. Friedman

Joel S. Friedman of Stoughton died May 7, 2012 at the age of 76.

Beloved husband of Marylin (Gordon-Goldberg) Friedman. Devoted father of Melissa Simonelli and her husband, Joe, Beth Friedman and Daniel Friedman and his wife, Marcy. Loving brother of the late Elaine Shapiro and her husband, Steven. Cherished grandfather of Darren, Max, Jake and David.

Graveside services were held at Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the  Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
