Stoughton Patch Scoreboard: Big Win for Volleyball Team Over Oliver Ames

Stoughton defeated Oliver Ames Wednesday in a five set match, 3-2. After losing the first two sets by the scores of 26-24, 31-29, Stoughton varsity fought back to claim the next three sets and their fifth league victory on the season. Key players for Stoughton were; Kayla Motley with 14 blocks, 12 kills, 7 aces, and 11 service points; Payton Pizzano with 14 assists, 20 digs, and 13 service points; and Ashley Medeiros with 10 kills, 20 digs, and several unbelievable defensive plays. Stoughton's next match will be Friday when the Stoughton squads travel to Milford.

In a hard-fought meet against Sharon, the Stoughton girls' cross country team suffered their first defeat, falling 24-33. Amy Kelly ran away from all runners finishing first in a time of 21.08 followed by Julia Bobeck, fifth in 23.13, Shannon Barkey, sixth-23.24, Katrina Daly, ninth, 23.43, Rebekah Medina, 12th, 24.20, Jennifer Billo,16th, 25.10 and Elizabeth Noe, 19-32.30.

BOYS' CROSS-COUNTRY
A strong 3-0 Sharon team defeated 2-1 Stoughton, 17-42. The top two runners for Stoughton were the boys' captains David Lockhart (fourth-18:24) and Alec DeNapoli (seventh-18:59). They were followed by Antonio Irons (eighth-19:22), Nick Quattrucci (15th-20:11) and Jason Marshall (17th-20:30). Lockhart led the race through the mile, but a large pack of Sharon runners stayed close and eventually moved by. DeNapoli and Irons had solid races cracking the top 10.
