Police Find Dead Man Inside Stoughton Home

STOUGHTON, MA — Police found a man dead in his Bay Road home after a SWAT Team was called and shut down the area. A SWAT team closed Bay Road Monday afternoon in the area of Polillio Avenue after the man, who was armed with a gun, called police and threatened to harm himself, the Brockton Enterprise reported.

Police and trained negotiators from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council tried calling the man several times, but couldn't reach him after the initial call, police told the Enterprise. Police entered the home around 4 p.m. and found the man's body. His identity has not been released.

Police addressed rumors on social media that said shots were fired outside the man's home. The rumors were false, and no one else was injured during the incident, police said.

"No one was injured as a result of this police action and no foul play is suspected," Stoughton police said on Facebook shortly before reopening Bay Road.
