STOUGHTON, MA — The Stoughton Police Department has earned accreditation after completing a voluntary review of its policies, procedures and operations.
The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission awarded the department Accredited Police Department status on Oct. 20, police announced Monday. The process requires agencies to demonstrate compliance with established professional standards intended to strengthen accountability, risk management and public confidence.
Police credited Accreditation Manager Lt. Tim Hansler with leading the effort. Hansler reviewed, developed and refined departmental policies and procedures to meet or exceed the commission’s standards, according to the department.
