Stoughton Police Determine No Threat From School Shelter In Place
As of Wednesday afternoon, police do not know how the man got into the building before the staff.

STOUGHTON, MA — Police determined there was no threat found following Wednesday morning's shelter in place at Wilkins Elementary School. An unknown man walked into the school looking for a driving school, superintendent Marguerite Rizzi said.
Around 8 a.m.,school official called police because the man entered the school without the faculty's knowledge. Lieutenant John Bonney told the Brockton Enterprise that as of Wednesday afternoon, police do not know how the man got into the building before the staff.
School officials said at the time, they didn't know if the man was still in the school. Out of an abundance of caution, officials ordered the school to shelter in place.

Police searched the school and couldn't find the man. After investigating, police determined that the man walked out of the school shortly after asking a staff member if there was a driving school there.. The man did not make any threats. Police believe this was an honest mistake.
"While this appears to be a misunderstanding and miscommunication, we can never be too cautious these days," Rizzi said. "We are thankful to the Stoughton Police Department for their quick response and professionalism."
