Stoughton Police Planning Cruiser Caravan For Dying Maine Child

Stoughton Police Lt. John Bonney has put out a call for all police cruiser to join a caravan for a drive-by for 9-year-old Jacob Thompson.

STOUGHTON, MA — The Stoughton Police Department is hoping to put a smile on the face of a 9-year-old child from Maine with cancer who is now in his final days.

Stoughton Police announced Tuesday that they are planning to drive by Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland, Maine Wednesday for Jacob Thompson, who resides at the hospital, has stage 4 Neuroblastoma and is not expected to make it past Christmas. All local first responders are invited to join the trip to Maine. In the Facebook message, Stoughton Police Lt. John Bonney said he would like to see as many cruisers as possible join the trip to Maine.

The caravan is scheduled to meet Wednesday morning at St. James Catholic Church in Stoughton on Page St. at 9 a.m., leave at 9:30 a.m., arrive in Maine at 12:30 p.m., and drive by the hospital by 1 p.m.

Thompson has made headlines with his plea for an early Christmas and holiday cards. The caravan will be giving cards to the child's family as well.
