Stoughton Public Hearing: Route 27 Construction Proposal

MassDOT will hold a hearing Wednesday to consider making improvements at the intersection of Central and Canton streets.

STOUGHTON, MA — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has scheduled a public hearing regarding a proposed construction project on Route 27. MassDOT scheduled the hearing for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Stoughton police station. The pending project would be at the intersection of Central and Canton streets and includes the following upgrades:

  • New traffic signals
  • 4-and-a-half to 5-foot wide sidewalks with handicapped-accessible ramps
  • Pavement, pavement marking and signage
  • Bike lane
  • Other geometric improvements

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. The project may require permanent or temporary easements. The town is responsible for acquiring property rights in private or public lands. MassDOT's policy regarding land acquisitions will be discussed at this hearing.
