Stoughton Public Library Celebrates Earth Day

The Library held a full slate of events on Saturday, including an indoor petting farm and a concert by Stoughton native Maria Sangiolo.

Rabbits, cats, chicks, a pig and even a goat with a diaper—Dawn Cordeiro’s traveling farm turned the Stoughton Public Library’s childrens’ area into a small petting zoo.

The Library and the Stoughton Youth Commission celebrated Earth Day at the on Saturday, with the traveling farm, information tables about various environmental related groups and organizations in the area, and a concert.

Dozens of children flocked to see the small animals up close, getting to hold the rabbits and cats and pet the other animals.

When the traveling farm packed up for the day, many of the children and their parents made their way up to the Wales French Room for a concert with Maria Sangiolo and Friends.

Sangiolo, a Stoughton native, sang many childrens’ songs related to the environment and nature and included her own twists on classics like ‘La Bamba” and “The Hokey Pokey” during her 90-minute performance.
