Stoughton Renters, Homeowners May Qualify For Coronavirus Relief

The program provides eligible Stoughton residents experiencing financial hardship due to the coronavirus with housing assistance.

STOUGHTON, MA — The Stoughton Housing Authority is accepting applications from homeowners and residents who may qualify for an emergency housing assistance program amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The program provides eligible residents experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19 with housing assistance. To receive assistance, homeowners, must make an income below 100 percent of the area median income and own and occupy deed restricted affordable housing.

60 percent AMI:

One person: $49,980; two-person: $57,120; three-person: $64,260; four-person: $71,400; five-person: $77,112; six-person: $82,824.

80 percent AMI:
One person: $66,640; two-person: $76,160; three-person: $85,680; four-person: $95,200; five-person: $102,816; six-person: $110,432.

100 percent AMI

One person: $83,300; two-person: $95,200; three-person: $107,100; four-person: $119,000; five-person: $128,520; six-person: $138,040.


Total cash assets of the household, as verified by bank and other asset account statements may not exceed $25,000.

Applications must be received by the Stoughton Housing Authority by 4:00PM on July 22, 2020.

Applications can be submitted via email to vhenriques@stoughtonhousing.com , or by postal mail to the Stoughton Housing Authority, 136 Britton Ave., Stoughton, MA 02072. All mail must be postmarked by July 22, 2020.

Applications can also be dropped off in the drop box at the Stoughton Housing Authority
Office, 136 Britton Ave. by no later than 4:00 PM on July 22, 2020. Applications received after the lottery deadline will be on a first-come-first-serve basis as funding allows.

On July 29, a computerized lottery will be administered by the Stoughton Housing Authority, ranking applications by income eligibility in order as follows: 60 percent AMI first, 80 percent AMI second, 100 percent AMI third.

Applicants will be notified of their position on the waiting list beginning Aug. 3.

Applicants selected are eligible for:

  • Up to six months of housing assistance (current and future rent, including arrearage payments, for a period beginning April 1). The program will cover 70 percent of a household’s monthly rent, with a maximum monthly assistance amount of $1,500 per household (or $9,000 per household for six months).
  • Mortgage assistance is only available to income eligible households who reside in affordable deed restricted units. The program will cover 70 percent of a household’s monthly mortgage payment of principal and interest, with a maximum monthly assistance amount of $1,500 per household (or $9,000 per household for six months).

This program is paid for by a grant from the Stoughton Community Preservation Fund.
