Stoughton Students Vying for Hood Scholarship

There are plenty of student-athletes in the halls of Stoughton High School deserving of recognition. 

And four students in particular are close to receiving that recognition, thanks to the annual Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship Program. But they need the community's help. The students are finalists for the national award, which will give the 18 winning entries $5,000 each.

Residents are encouraged to vote for the winner now through April 18 at 3 p.m. Each entry includes an essay on why the participant should be selected for the scholarship. 

Timothy Sears, for example, who has participated in varsity soccer, track and tennis at Stoughton High School, discusses his thoughts on one basketball game in which he and an opposing player were fighting to get a rebound, resulting in Sears knocking the player down, but instead of chasing after the loose ball, made sure the player was alright and helped him up.
