Stoughton Woman Gives Birth Outside Boston Police Station

A Stoughton woman was on her way to the hospital, but her soon to be born child wasn't waiting for anyone!

STOUGHTON, MA — A Stoughton woman was on her way to the hospital with her husband to give birth, but the newest addition to their family wanted to come into this world sooner rather than later.

At about 7:15 a.m. Thursday morning, Boston Police officers Jose Gomes and Byron Foote were returning to the Mattapan police station with a prisoner when they noticed a motor vehicle following them, honking and flashing its lights. After the officers were back at the station, they were approached by the driver, Francis Pierre, who told the officers that his wife, Tracey was having a baby.

Officers quickly called for EMS support and only moments later, with officers and emergency medical technicians on hand, little Francesca was born, according to the Boston Police Department. The baby and her parents were then transported to their original destination - Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Officer Byron Foot told WBZ that it was a surreal moment and Officer Nadia Siconolfi said they were expecting the worst, so they were very happy to see the birth.

After the family made it to the hospital, the officers visited her and brought a Boston Police Department teddy bear for Francesca and coffee mugs for the parents.
