Stoughton Woman Hired to Stop Thefts Charged with Stealing

Anna L. Oliveira, 28, is accused of stealing $7,500 in merchandise and cash from the North Attleboro Macy's.

NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA - A Stoughton woman whose job was to prevent shoplifting at the Macy’s inside the Emerald Square Mall, now stands accused of doing what she was hired to stop.

Anna L. Oliveira, 28, was arraigned Thursday on larceny charges according to the Sun Chronicle. She is accused of stealing $7,500 in merchandise and cash from the North Attleboro store.

Oliveira was apprehended after surveillance video showed her allegedly concealing items in Macy’s bags and taking them to the loss prevention office. She was fired after an internal investigation.

She is free on $150 bail and is due back in court on March 16.
