Stoughton's Justice League: Who Are They?

The three mystery men who pushed a woman's car out of a dangerous intersection left before she could get their names or even thank them.

STOUGHTON, MA — Contrary to popular belief, superheroes do exist. Just ask San Mok Lee, whose car broke down when she was trying to turn left at one of the most dangerous intersections in town. Luckily she was saved by three unknown local heroes.

About 7 a.m. Thursday morning, Lee was driving on York Street near the Stoughton-Canton line. She tried turning left onto Route 138, but halfway into the turn, her Honda Fit stopped dead. She was stuck in a dangerous spot during the height of the morning commute.

Lee called the police for help, but before they arrived, three men jumped into action, pulling over and getting out to get her stopped car out of the intersection.

"They seriously risked their lives, pushing my little Honda Fit to the side of Rout 138, while trucks and other impatient drivers were trying to get through," Lee said.

Stoughton Police Officer Victoria Denneno arrived to direct traffic and help arrange a tow truck, but the three mystery men left before Lee could get their names or even thank them and Denneno.

"I am very thankful for all of their kindness," she said. "These four heroes stepped up when a helpless woman was stuck in the worst situation at one of the most dangerous locations in town. The three gentlemen left before I could say a sincere 'Thank you' during the chaos."

This type of is not surprising, according to Stoughton Police Lieutenant John Bonney.

"Victoria is a terrific young officer with a lot of promise," Bonney told Patch.

Denneno said she was glad to help and acknowledged Lee thanking her on social media.

"I love getting the bad guy when it's necessary, but I also love helping people in this community find there smile in the worst of situations," Denneno said.

Some commuters did not take kindly to the added traffic, completely out of Lee's control.

"Many drivers were angry at me..." Lee said. "One driver rolled down her window and yelled at me, 'Don’t park in the middle of the road!' I was shocked that someone thought I was trying to risk being hit by trucks or rush hour, fast-moving cars at that spot on purpose."

One witness, who was stuck in traffic from the break-down, said she felt bad that other morning commuters were cruel to Lee.

"That is such a busy intersection, I am glad it was not an accident," Christine Russo said. "It is awful that drivers were angry with you. People need to be more empathetic," she told Lee.
