Straight Teeth & Healthy Smiles Create Positive First Impressions
Great Smile Can Provide Edge in Job Market, Possible Higher Pay
Ask most people what an Orthodontist does and they’ll say “They straighten teeth.”
But Dr. Andrew Chase of ARCH Orthodontics says, “Yes, we straighten teeth, but more important: We bring positive, life-changing results that follow. Having the best possible smile truly is an investment in yourself that can pay future dividends.”
In a study ‘Do Dental Aesthetics Have Any Influence on Finding a Job?’ shed in the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, 10 patients needing Orthodontic work were photographed while smiling. Two photos were created for each patient – one unaltered, the other digitally altered to display a perfect smile.

The photos were shown to 100 hiring managers who were asked about ”the likelihood of that person being hired based on perceived honesty, intelligence and efficiency.” In most cases, the altered photos – the ones with ideal smiles – were judged to be more intelligent and more likely to be hired than those with crooked teeth or spaces. Dr. Chase hears similar stories from his own patients.
Other studies conducted for Invisalign and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry showed that, 48% of adults believe a person’s smile is the most memorable feature after meeting someone for the first time. People perceive those with an attractive smile to be more successful, intelligent, and more likely to win a job when competing with someone with crooked teeth -- even if both have similar skills and experience.

Dr. Chase, practicing Orthodontics since 1998, says, “A great smile boosts your self-esteem, which in turn helps you exude the confidence necessary to achieve your goals. Anyone hoping to make a great first impression or to get hired for a new job should see us first. We offer a free consultation and our long-tenured, knowledgeable and friendly staff does all they can to help you succeed.” While many Orthodontic patients are referred by their general dentist, a referral is not required. Dr. Chase says, “Simply call and set up a complimentary consultation at 781-209-6776.”
In one estimate, a great smile can add $1.5 million or more to your lifelong earnings. ARCH founder Dr. Robert Chavez says, “Attractiveness is a valuable social commodity. We hear from our ‘alumni’ who attest to the fact that their wonderful smiles have given them more self-confidence and improved how others perceive them. I’m convinced that a large percentage of our patients have better professional and social success due in part to their beautiful smiles. If a patient is successful and makes $50,000 more per year, then over a 30-year career it adds up to $1.5 million more than they might have made without Orthodontic work. Patients shouldn’t view Orthodontics as an expense but rather as an investment. Just as you work with a financial advisor to plan for the future, patients should view their new image as an investment that pays off in a better self-image and self-confidence that can lead to career success that can pay off in multiples.”
