Suspect Charged With Fleeing Rt. 24 Traffic Stop Held On Bail

STOUGHTON, MA — A Taunton man charged with fleeing a traffic stop on Route 24 has been ordered held on bail.

Nicholas Davis, 31, was arraigned Monday in Stoughton District Court on charges of possession of a firearm without an FID card, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of ammunition without an FID card, failure to stop for police, sending/reading electronic messages while driving, marked lanes violation, and resisting arrest. He was ordered held on $1,500 cash bail, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's office.

Saturday morning, state police stopped a vehicle near exit 19 for driving violations. During an investigation and search of the vehicle, troopers found an illegally possessed loaded Glock .45 caliber handgun. When the gun was located, the driver, identified as Davis, 31, allegedly ran from the scene.

The suspect was arrested after a search of the area. A perimeter and K9 teams from the Stoughton Police Department and state police helicopters were used to located Davis. He was arrested behind a house on Winship Way in Stoughton, state police said.

David is due back in Stoughton District Court on Sept. 6 for a pre-trial conference.
