Teen Charged With Stealing $10,000 From Stoughton Target

Police say that Isa Mendes took nearly $10,000 while working at Target.

Police say Brockton teen stole nearly $10,000 over three weeks by skimming money from friends and acquaintances who used her register at the Stoughton Target.

Isa Mendes, 18, was charged with larceny over $250. She pleaded not guilty during her arraignment in Stoughton District Court Monday.

Detective Sgt. Robert Welch told the Enterprise that the store knew something was wrong when small amounts of cash went missing and the paperwork for the registers weren’t matching up.

Mendes told the loss prevention team that she had friends and acquaintances use her register. While she would charge full price, she would pocket half the money with the other half going into the register. Welch said the teen took responsibility for the missing cash when interviewed during the store’s investigation.

Mendes is due back in court on Jan. 19 for a pre-trial hearing.
