There is no try!

Yoda definitely said it best: “Do or do not, there is no try”. I say this because if you truly want something done, you need to do it; there is no try, you just get it done. A lot of people use the word “try”…I’ll try to get there or I’ll try my best…but how many people actually “do”?
I am one of those people that use the word “try” but I’m starting to change and use the word “do” more often. I am consciously thinking about how I use the words too because I find that they can mean more depending on the situation. If there is something that I’ve never done before, I may want to try it and if I like it, I will do it again. If there’s something that I’ve done before and I enjoy it, I do it. I think these words have an emotional attachment to them and even though it may be underlying, it’s there.
We tend to gravitate toward activities we enjoy doing or people that we enjoy being around. As a result, if we don’t like to do something or don’t like someone, we tend to stray. Unfortunately there are times when we have to do something we don’t enjoy or be around people we don’t like but guess what…we do it! Why? Because we have to: our job requires us to work with someone we don’t get along with, I want a new job but I don’t like the interview process, I should exercise at least 30-minutes per day but I don’t like to, etc. There are countless scenarios that I could come up with where the words “try” and “do” work but only you can decide how you will use them.
When it comes to exercising and eating right, make sure you “do”. Exercising and eating right may not be something you enjoy but they do give you energy and can adds years to your life and there will be things you don’t want to miss out on. When it comes to these two things, don’t “try” because ultimately in the end, you’ll wish you “did”.
