Timeline Revealed for Stoughton High School Project

Dates for schematics, presentations, and votes were revealed this week.

If all goes according to plan, Stoughton will have the go-ahead to either build a new high school or renovate by June 2016.

Members of the High School Building Committee gave a presentation on the proposal and an update on the timeline during town meeting this week.

Last week, Drummey Rosane Anderson Architects was selected as the architect for the feasibility study. DRA are no strangers to Stoughton. About five years ago the firm worked on the town-wide assessment.

Based on the timeline presented, a preliminary design report is due in September with preferred schematics to be unveiled in December. The design report will list the possible options for the high school, with the preferred schematics to present the preferred solution.

Next January, the MSBA’s board will vote on the schematics. The project’s scope and budget, along with funding from the MBDA will be reviled in April.

A vote by the MSBA and presentation/vote at town meeting will take place in May, 2016.

Finally, a debt exclusion vote will be held on June 2016.

Members of the public that would like to participate in the project will have multiple chances to do. A community forum is scheduled for June 6.
