Timilty Amendment Gives Funds To State Theatre

The funds are part of the state budget that recently passed the State Senate.

STOUGHTON, MA — The State Theatre will get a funding boost as part of its revitalization.

Passed this week in the State Senate, the state's proposed $40.8 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2018 includes an amendment from Senator Walter F. Timilty that gives the project $50,000 in state funds for the revitalization and preservation of the building.

The State Theatre was first opened to the public in December 1927. The funding will enable future generations to enjoy dance, music, and theatrical performances; visual art displays; literary readings; and film events at this community landmark, according to a press release.
