Walter Timilty Wins His State Senate Primary Challenge

With no Republican challenger, state Sen. Walter Timilty will keep his seat after defeating Jarred Rose.

BRAINTREE, MA — State Sen. Walter Timility (D-Milton), has won his primary challenge against Jarred Rose.

Timilty defeated Rose, of Stoughton, with 68.1 percent of the vote in the Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth District. As of midnight Wednesday, 72 percent of the vote had been counted.

Timilty, 51, grew up in Milton and previously served as a town meeting representative. He would later serve in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, where he represented the 7th Norfolk District from 1999 to 2016. He's served as a state senator for the past three years.

No Republicans are on the ballot, so Timilty will remain in the state senate.
