Two in Randolph Charged in Facebook Marketplace Armed Robbery

Police say Kavon Washington and Lorenzo Murphy lured two people to a home after agreeing to buy an item from them on Facebook Marketplace.

RANDOLPH, MA — Two men face armed robbery charges after allegedly luring two men to a home under the guise of selling them an iPhone.

Kavon Washington, 18, of Mattapan and Lorenzo Murphy, 18, of Randolph, were arrested Monday night and charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and receiving stolen property over $250, according to the Randolph Police Department.

Monday night, police responded to a report of an armed robbery on Maple Street. A pair of victims told officers that they had gone to the address after agreeing to purchase an iPhone on Facebook Marketplace, only to be robbed at gunpoint of cash and a rose gold colored iPhone, police said.

A K9 search led police to the basement of Murphy's home, where both suspects were located. A search of the house turned up the iPhone allegedly stolen from one of the victims, a second iPhone that indicated it was lost upon being powered on, cash, credit cards belonging to a variety of individuals, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun which was reported stolen out of Bangor, Maine.

Both suspects were held pending arraignment in Quincy District Court.
