WATCH: Stoughton Firefighters Pay Tribute to 9/11 Victims
The fire department held a brief ceremony Sunday morning.

STOUGHTON, MA — Like many other fire and police departments, Stoughton Fire paused Sunday morning to remember the 3,000 lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
The brief remembrance ceremony included a moment of silence and remarks from members of the fire department.
“On this day, remember our fallen brothers. Not just today, but every day. Honor them by doing more than putting on a dress uniform,” Fire Captain James Bertram said.

Fire Chief Michael Laracy reminded the crowd that the New York Fire Department lost 343 firefighters on the day of the attack and 127 since due to illnesses obtained that day. To put that number into perspective, Laracy said that the number is equal to 75 percent of firefighters in Norfolk County.
"These events are going on nationally, fire departments are taking the time. We’re all doing the same thing for not only the firefighter and law enforcement officers, but the 3,000 that lost their lives on that day,” Laracy said.
