Water Samples at Muddy Pond Water Pump Come Back All Clear

From the Town of Stoughton:

Customers of the Stoughton Water Department were notified on June 9, 2017, of a problem with our drinking water and were advised that follow-up sampling results would be forthcoming. We are pleased to report that the problem has been corrected and we have turned the Muddy Pond water pumps back on. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

After receiving Total Coliform and E.coli positive test results from our lab on the raw water sample at Muddy Pond on June 7, 2017, we shut the pump station off, chlorinated the ground water collection lines, flushed the lines, and re-sampled the raw water source five times to confirm the absence of Total Coliform bacteria the next day. It is important to note that the finished water sample at Muddy Pond and all 15 distribution samples were "all clear." Laboratory results of additional bacteria sampling performed on June 9, 2017, at Muddy Pond were "all clear."
