The ACCESS test is used to help teachers track students’ progress in learning English and help schools decide what English language support services to provide. In addition, the test scores help teachers decide when students can exit receiving English language support. ACCESS testing for EL students in grades K- 12 will be administered in-person starting on March 29th of 2021. ALL EL students are required to take the ACCESS test.

If your children attend school in-person for cohort A or B, they will take the test on the days they attend school in-person. If children are fully remote (cohort D), a date and time will be scheduled for these students to come to school in-person for purposes of taking the ACCESS test.

In the upcoming weeks, schools will inform remote families of English Learners of the date/time of their children’s scheduled ACCESS test, along with information about what children should bring with them on their testing day, and a reminder of the COVID safety protocols including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
