UPDATE: Teen Killed Crossing Street Near Stoughton-Avon Line

The woman, who suffered serious, life-threatening injuries, has died, according to reports.

AVON, MA — A reportedly 19-year-old Brockton woman was severely injured by a Jeep while crossing the road that leads to Ikea in Stoughton.

Avon Police Chief David Martineau told the Enterprise that the woman was crossing Stockwell Drive when she attempted to avoid a car coming from the right, but fell and was struck.

Officials say was on her way from Party City in Avon to the Dunkin' Donuts across the street.

The woman suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. She has since passed away, according to reports.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. No charges have been filed and investigators are calling the death "a tragic accident."
