SUDBURY, MA — The 2016-2017 school year is almost here, and while students may be dreading it, the time has come to make preparations for the upcoming school year.

Students are due back in Sudbury schools on Wednesday, Aug. 31, across all grades, including Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. The return is immediately followed by another break, with no school Friday, Sept. 2, or Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day)

Here are ten other important dates on the Sudbury public schools calendar that you should be aware of during the first few months of the year.
- Aug. 25: orientation for new to Sudbury elementary and middle school students
- Aug. 31: preschool orientation
- Sept. 6: LSRH 9th grade parent night
- Sept. 14: early release, and LSRSH back to school night
- Sept. 28: early release
- Oct. 3: no school - Rosh Hashanah
- Oct. 10: no school - Columbus Day
- Oct. 12: no school - Yom Kippur
- Nov. 23: early release, Thanksgiving break Nov. 24 and 25
- Dec. 26-30: winter break
