2012 Sudbury Fourth of July Road Race Results

The 48th running of the Sudbury July Fourth Road Race went off at 9 a.m. just as the rain stopped, as if on cue, with 63 kids, ages 9-13, looking at 1.5 miles under hot and humid conditions. There were 231 participants in the 3.75-mile race for runners 14 years and older, a strong turnout standing in the rain for an hour or hour and a half before their race began at 9:30.

Registration was a bit chaotic as it had to be moved inside the small building at upper Featherland Park. Fortunately, almost 100 runners had pre-registered, which eased the burden of post-registration somewhat.

The kids race was won by two 13-year-old girls, Sydney Courtney and Alexa Babick, with times of 9:30 and 9:32, respectively. The boys leaders were Brian Knightly and Jacob Madden, in times of 9:32 and 9:35, respectively.

Tim Fisher, a master runner, was the first man to cross the finish line in a time of  21:51; Felicia O'Brien was the women's winner in a time of 24:03.
