5 Things to Know About Allergy Season

It's coming. Here are some things the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI) says you should know.

The spring allergy season begins as early as February in some parts of the country, and can last through summer, according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI).

The ACAAI says there are five things you need to know before embarking on what is, for some, the season of hell:

  1. Allergies are on the rise: Every year, more adults and children are diagnosed with allergies.
  2. It’s important to know when to medicate: You need to start taking your meds two weeks before the symptoms kick in.
  3. There is no cure, but this is close: There’s no cure, but immunotherapy can provide relief
  4. Symptoms can sometimes be severe: It can be more than the runny nose, sneezing and itching. Asthma can be a symptom.
  5. When in doubt, go to the doctor: If you’re battling symptoms for more than two week, you should probably see an allergist for testing.
