SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury is promoting a community food and wellness event with a built-in affordability push.
The town says eligible residents can receive coupon booklets to use at vendors at the June 6 Locally Grown Sudbury Farmer’s Market & Fair.
The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at the Fairbank Community Center, 40 Fairbank Rd. Town officials said the event is meant to bring local farmers and gardeners together with residents, expand access to fresh food, and highlight connections between local food systems, health, and climate resilience.
A major piece of the announcement is the town’s food-assistance program. Sudbury’s Board of Health is offering a limited number of coupon booklets that can be used with any vendor at the fair. The town said the booklets cost $75 for individuals or couples and $100 for families, with certificates available in $1 and $5 denominations.
To qualify, applicants must be Sudbury residents and either live in subsidized housing or receive benefits such as SNAP, cash assistance, fuel assistance, or unemployment, according to the town. Officials also said residents with financial need who do not meet those criteria are encouraged to contact the town social worker. Transportation help is available as well.
The event will be held inside the gym and multipurpose room at Fairbank Community Center. The town says Locally Grown Sudbury is a collaborative effort involving the Health Department, Goodnow Library, Town Manager’s Office, and Sustainability Coordinator, with funding from The Sudbury Foundation and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
