SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury residents are being asked to weigh in on whether the town should hold a fall Special Town Meeting.
The Select Board will hold a public hearing during a meeting next month to decide whether a Fall 2026 Special Town Meeting is necessary. Residents can submit comments by email or mail until noon Jul. 6, to be considered during the Jul. 14 Select Board meeting at 7 p.m.
A fall Town Meeting may be held in September, October or November under of Sudbury’s bylaws. The bylaw requires the board to discuss the matter in public session, hold a public hearing and vote by the end of July on whether a fall Town Meeting should occur.
This comes just a few weeks after Sudbury voters took up four warrant articles at a Special Town Meeting on May 20.
During the meeting, four articles on the warrant were voted on, including citizen petitions on the state's Bottle Bill, an audit of the Massachusetts Legislature, recall elections in Sudbury, and a vote of no confidence in the Sudbury Public Schools School Committee. The voter turnout was 938 registered voters.
To submit a comment for a fall meeting, residents can email with “Fall 2026 Special Town Meeting” in the subject line. Comments should include the requester’s name, address and input on Sudbury’s fall Town Meeting.
Residents can also mail in comments to the Select Board’s Office, at 278 Old Sudbury Rd. Mailed comments should also include the requester’s name, address and input on the fall Town Meeting.
