Battling Demons With Feng Shui

Feng shui isn't just about decorating your home; it is also a powerful way to protect or amplify the energies of your space.

Have you ever lived or worked in a place that just felt, well...bad?

You couldn't explain it, or put your finger on it, but every time you were there, you simply felt off. Perhaps you noticed being drained, or a little sad, or even anxious.

Amplify this times ten, and you now know what it was like to walk into my old office.

Several years ago, I worked in an office that was directly below a cancer center. As much as I tried to spruce up my space and make it warm and welcoming, it always felt claustrophobic and cramped. There was no natural light, and no matter where you stood you could always see strange shadows moving around.

Within months of moving into that space, I became extremely depressed and tired-so much so that I went for medical testing to find out if there was an underlying health issue. Thankfully nothing was revealed, but I continued to drag through my days.

In the interim, the energy of the office continued to feel strange. Every plant that I brought in died within 48 hours-even bamboo, which is notoriously hardy. I would often see the chime on my door begin to softly swing on its own, despite the fact that there was no breeze or movement in the room. And my electronic devices always seemed to have issues in that space, even though they worked perfectly once I brought them out of the building.

After months of this, I did some research and became curious about feng shui. Could this possibly help to lighten the atmosphere of my office?

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was shocked when Kerri Miller entered my space and the first words out of her mouth were, "Have you noticed the pictures you've chosen? Every single one looks as if it is melting down, like something upstairs is heavy and pressing down on the atmosphere here."

It was true. I had never realized that these pictures all represented the subconscious feelings I had whenever I entered my space: a sensation that I was being compressed by the heaviness of the room.

As she walked from room to room, I found myself becoming fascinated by the way that the areas of the space represented my current reality. In feng shui, each segment of a space pertains to a different area of your life. If you have clutter in your "professional" area, for example, it can signify a confused and disorganized state in your professional life. Having single items in your "relationship" corner brings the energy of solitude into your personal life.

Yes, I know it sounds a bit woo-woo, but I couldn't deny the accuracy of what she read into my private life based on a tour of my office space.

In the end, she gave me a roadmap of what to add, remove, and reorganize in my space in order to create a better flow and get rid of that old dirty energy. And you know...it actually worked! Patients began to comment immediately on how different the space felt to them-even though the changes I incorporated in the beginning were so subtle, they were unnoticeable to the naked eye. I felt lighter and more energized in the office every day, and I began to use what she taught me in my own home.

I was so impressed with Kerri's work that I decided to host her for an event, which is next Thursday. If you are struggling with making your personal space more inviting, you need to meet her!
